In the last days, news about the arrest of Federico Annibale on the behalf of the German police have been circulating. Our friend Federico, is a passionate author for the section “Productions” of dailySTORM and a postgraduate student in Development Studies at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), he went to Frankfurt with a group of students from his university to participate as an individual protester to the demonstration against Troika’s austerity policies.
Obviously, as all his friends and the people who know him, we are concerned about his conditions and therefore we have tried to understand better the circumstances. After talking with his closer relatives and some university colleagues, we have collected the only certain information available at the moment.
Federico has been arrested and, in some measure, charged for having taken part to the clashes which have taken place in Frankfurt, in proximity to the new headquarter of the Central European Bank. For unclear reasons, which are probably connected to the fact that his permanence in Germany wasn’t guaranteed and for the proximity of the weekend, he has been detained awaiting for the process in which the accuses will be verified, which will be held on Monday or Tuesday of the upcoming week.
Federico’s family is in contact with attorneys who are managing the issue on site. Bearing these premises and grateful for the solidarity that Federico is receiving from many, at the moment his family asks everybody to keep calm and maintain discretion on the issue.
As dailySTORM‘s staff, taking into account what is known right now in a climate of uncertainty, we want to show our support for Federico, however, as a newspaper, at the moment we decided to limit to reasonably report the certain facts, with the aim of avoiding the instigation of rumors and agitation. Wishing to provide a reliable service to the people who love Federico and are concerned about him in these hours, we are intentioned to abide to Federico’s family’s request of calmness and discretion. Above everything, we want to show respect for Federico and the difficult situation he is going through, avoiding the direct or indirect risk of conditioning it or illegitimately speculating in any way. We invite everyone to do so, although we respect everyone who’s concerned and his showing support to our beloved Federico in any way.
Whit the caution required by cases of this sort, we will publish any update on the situation as soon as available. We can only hope that this unpleasant and exceedingly protracted incident is going to find an end as soon as possible. Above all, harboring great affection for Federico, we hope he is going to overcome it in the best possible way. Federico is one of us and we are all close to him right now.
We are with you.
